Utah's final segment of I-70 was officially opened in a ceremony at Eagle Canyon Bridge in Emery County, which is located in the southeastern region of the Beehive State. The ceremony's participants included Utah Governor Norm Bangerter. That segment of the Interstate System is the only paved road coursing through the San Rafael Swell, an extensive kidney-shaped landscape distinguished by such geological features as mesas, arches, spires, and deep canyons.
