October 16, 1958

A dedication ceremony was held for a 40-mile portion of I-94 in North Dakota connecting Jamestown with Valley City. Governor John E. Davis of the Peaceful Garden State cut the ribbon at the event, which specifically took place at the Eckelson interchange along the newly opened route. That segment of I-94 was the first part of the Interstate System fully completed in North Dakota. At the time of the dedication ceremony, it was also the longest continuous stretch of the Interstate System built since the enactment of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956.
