Representative Hale Boggs, addressing the American Trucking Associations in New York City, touched upon the status of the recently enacted Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956. The Louisiana Democrat, who had been a pivotal champion of the legislation (see February 6), asserted that the trucking industry's support for it made possible the "happy" prospect of a 41,000-mile Interstate System.
