A memorial to Vermont's Vietnam War veterans was dedicated in the northbound I-89 rest area near Sharon in the Green Mountain State. The memorial is believed to have been the first state-sanctioned one for those who fought in Vietnam. In addition, Vermont's entire portion of that Interstate route is called the Veterans Memorial Highway because it closely resembles Highway One in the central highlands of Vietnam.
