Champion of the Road: Akron, OH – June 26

Firestone headquarters in Akron.

Akron was the site where Harvey Firestone hosted the original transcontinental motor train in 1919. Firestone hosted an evening picnic and festival featuring show cars, driver and race car haulers, music, games, and fun. The menu featured the same kind of fried chicken dinner served to the original convoy in 1919. Lincoln Highway/Byway Association members also participated.
