At a Standstill: Frederick, MD – June 28

This replica of part of the covered bridge is the same width as that encountered by the 1919 convoy.

Maryland welcomed the convoy to a bridge near US 15 outside of Emmitsburg, for the unveiling of a historical marker at the spot where the 1919 convoy first became mired in mud. The Maryland DOT erected a segment of a replica of the 1919 covered bridge along the "modern bridge" built at that location in 1921. The U.S. Army Transportation Group provided vintage military vehicles from the Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis.
