Back to the Beginning: Washington, DC – June 29
Due to flooding in Washington, the final event of the convoy, the 50th Anniversary Arrival Ceremony was moved from the Ellipse – the point from which the 1919 convoy departed – to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The ceremony took place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Ampitheater. Several hundred people welcomed the convoy, including members of Congress and business leaders. Participants in the Interstate Highway System Policy Forum and members of the Road Gang, a transportation booster group, also attended. This event marked the conclusion of the Celebrate the Interstate Convoy. Thursday, June 29
