Betting on Good Roads: Reno, NV – June 16

An antique car on display at the National Automobile Museum in Reno.

Nevada's Interstate celebration centered on the arrival of the convoy in Reno, one of the stops made by the original Transcontinental Motor Train in 1919. VIPs joined convoy participants at the National Automobile Museum for a luncheon and press conference sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of Nevada. The Museum displays more than 200 cars from 1892 to present, the majority of which belong to the world famous collection of the late gaming pioneer and avid collector Bill Harrah. Author Dan McNichol discussed early road-building in Nevada. An evening reception was held for convoy participants, also hosted by AGC Nevada.
