Michigan

The Michigan Department of Transportation recently celebrated its 100th Anniversary. Below are photos from some of the celebrations.

Centennial Kick-Off

Michigan kicked off its centennial in January. A group of MDOT "mascots," the Interstate Kids, were revived for the occasion. Each "kid" represents one of the state's major interstate highways. Also present at many centennial events was Horatio "Good Roads" Earle, the state's first Highway Commissioner, as portrayed by an MDOT retiree. Both Earle and the Kids were featured at an MDOT event at the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit in January.
